Girl, Work that Up-do!

Fashion trends don’t have to end at shoes, tops, and skirts. In fact, hair trends change almost as frequently as clothing trends. This summer season redefine your do with these new and inspired looks.

  • Plaited and Braided hair, you know the dutch milkmaid look, has never fallen out of touch. But it has been especially popular on the runaway, most notably, Alexander Wang’s fashion show. Braids are so quick and easy, and even help hide less than fresh hair. Whether it be a side braid or a regular old messy one, they really work with any hair type and color.

  • Long waved hair. The way women used to wear their hair in the 40s and early 50s. The look is always very put together and proper, at the same time loose and casual. When styling, waves should be apparent but not too curly. Although this hairstyle works fine with any hair color, applying it to black hair somewhat defeats the purpose. You want to be able to see the billowing waves, and unfortunately with very dark colors that is simply unrealistic.

  • Straight long hair. I love this look! I just love long hair in general. I feel like anything you do with it will look great. For the most part, as long as your hair is mostly healthy, minimal styling is required. Unlike with short hair where you are forced to style it a certain way everyday to avoid random fly-aways and looking like Alfalfa.

  • Slicked hairstyles. I’m not too sure about this one. Something about it just screams “I haven’t showered in over a week”. Why wash your hair, to then glob too much gel onto it that makes it look as though you’ve been out of range of any sort of water source for weeks?

  • Chignon. I like this one too. It’s a nice alternative to the regular bun. It gives the hairstyle a wild, messy fun look that still manages to be very elegant and suitable for even the most formal of occasions.

Well there you have it. This season’s top hair trends straight from the runway. Will you be trying any on for size?

Happy Shopping!
